The Copacabana Fort in Rio de Janeiro was designed at the end of the nineteenth century to make up the defensive system of the city of Rio de Janeiro and its harbor. Its main function within such a system was to prevent the approach of enemy ships that could threaten the entrance to the Guanabara Bay.
The site chosen for the construction of the Fort was named the promontory of the small church, where there was the Church of Our Lady of Copacabana.
The Cobacabana fort’s mission is to preserve, safeguard and disseminate the values, traditions and the historical memory of the Brazilian Army and act as a Cultural Space, offering culture, entertainment and knowledge to visitors.
Also at the Copacabana Fort you can have coffee and enjoy the beautiful view in the traditional Colombo confectionery, you will find the perfect setting to take your morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea or snack. In addition to traditional pastries, snacks and waffles, the menu also features salads, sandwiches, crepes and pasta.
